More and more universities are now offering a distance learning doctorate or a Doctor of Education Degree with a focus on distance education. This can be expected to be expanded in the near future.

Earning an education degree at the doctorate level can take between two to four years to complete. An on-campus requirement should be expected for at least part of the program. It is also quite possible that writing a thesis will also be required. Coursework includes topics such as the design, organization, methods of teaching, and more.

Getting in on the ground floor can certainly lend itself to a better career as a professor, a chairman, or even higher positions.
