When you want to find an online college that will give you the technological education at the Master’s Degree level that you need, along with the training from the right companies, the National Technological University (NTU) is the school you want. This school was founded in 1984 as the first accredited distance learning university that offered courses in engineering. Later on, in 2005, the National Technological University merged with Walden University and became the NTU School of Engineering and Applied Science.
The school was started with the idea of being able to offer distance learning training directly to the corporations that needed it. In order to provide it, engineering courses were taught by teachers from seven different universities.
There are two-degree programs offered by NTU. These are both Master’s Degrees level programs and they are the M.S. in Software Engineering and the M.S. in Systems Engineering.
Besides the Master’s Degree programs, the University also offers a number of certificates that are also at the graduate level. The certificates have a minimum requirement of at least four courses to complete the program. The courses may be applied toward the Master’s Degree if the student desires to pursue the education. There are six certificates offered and they include the Competitive Product Management Certificate; the Systems Engineering Certificate; the Technical Project Management Certificate; the Software Project Management Certificate; the Software Testing Certificate; and the Engineering Management Certificate. Students are also welcome to take individual courses.
The University was founded by several large companies who had the intent of being able to keep their engineers on the cutting edge of technology. This was why a number of large corporations had helped start the school, and it included businesses like IBM, Motorola, Hewlett-Packard, and Lockheed Martin. Today, their largest alliance is with Boeing.
Instruction in the various engineering fields comes from experts at schools such as MIT, Purdue, and the University of Berkeley. In addition, the distance learning materials uses state-of-the-art multimedia technology. Online courses use various formats including the Internet, video-conferencing, and video or CD courses. Taking graduate distance learning classes and getting a Master’s Degree does not require a physical presence on the campus, which is in Minneapolis, MN.
There are many different scholarships available at NTU. Costs for the courses are the same for in-state or out-of state residents, as well as international students. For the various MBA degrees, students are required to have a minimum of two years of work experience as a manager. Other degrees may have other qualifications for enrollment.
