Degrees and Programs in Photography
Capturing the world behind a photographic lens can be quite different than
the normal office job. Some photographers may put their lives in danger by
capturing political uprisings, natural disasters and combat situations. On
the contrary self employed photographers may safely focus on the celebrations
in life by photographing weddings, graduations, dances and portraits. The variety
of photography work is as different as it is vast.
Some photographers are on salary such as photojournalists who work for newspapers
or magazines. These salaries can range from $20,000 - $40,000 a year. The comfort
of having a salary is nice and the work can be a lot of fun but the work hours
may be long and the competition may be fierce. Having an actual degree in photography
or photojournalism can greatly increase your chances of landing a job in that
field.
Even if you decide that you want to be a freelance photographer your work
will need to be able to stand out from the competition and build a reputation.
In this case taking a few online photography courses will be useful in building
your technique and understanding of changing trends in the industry and equipment.
